Zack Martin is the latest Cowboys offensive lineman to come down with an injury.

Just when you might have thought things couldn’t get worse for the Dallas Cowboys‘ offensive line, they got much, much worse.

All-Pro guard Zack Martin left Monday night’s game against the Arizona Cardinals with an apparent neck or shoulder injury.

The Cowboys’ offensive line has been ravaged by injuries in 2020

Going into the season, Dallas returned one of the top offensive lines in the NFL with Tyron Smith, Connor Williams, Joe Looney, Martin and La’El Collins ready to set the tone for the offense.

It’s now Week 6, and all but one of those starters is still playing for the Cowboys.

Williams is now lining up with four backups — Brandon Knight, Tyler Biadasz, Connor McGovern and Terence Steele — thanks to Martin’s injury. Collins, Looney and Smith have all ended up on injured reserve.

The fact that quarterback Dak Prescott is also on IR doesn’t help matters much. Andy Dalton has taken over the offense but faces quite the challenge with the injuries around him.

The only silver lining to Martin’s injury is it may be of the more temporary variety if Desmond Purnell of CBS-DFW is correct.

A concussion could keep Martin out of action for a couple of weeks, but that’s a significantly better prognosis than the kind of neck injury that sidelined Smith.

The Cowboys don’t really have time wait for Martin to come back before getting their season back on track. They are 2-3 and need to beat Arizona to put some distance between them and the struggling NFC East. Unfortunately, they’re down 21-0 late in the first half.

On the plus side, the Eagles, Giants and Washington Football Team are all a wreck in 2020. No one in the division has a winning record, and the Cowboys are the only team with two wins. Pivotal matchups with Washington and Philadelphia are coming up in the next two weeks, which could change the standings greatly.
