25. Bud Dupree gets a massive deal from the Broncos

Spoiler alert, the Broncos are going to pivot away from Von Miller. That puts Denver in the market for an edge rusher who can operate opposite Bradley Chubb. Dupree represents an excellent option.

The big question about Dupree’s availability is whether or not the Steelers can afford to let him get away. It’s always possible they could use the franchise tag to keep him in Pittsburgh. Instead, look for the Steelers to conclude that they have enough talent in the front seven without inking Dupree to a record-setting contract.

The Broncos will be more than happy to give Dupree the sort of deal he’ll be looking for. Vic Fangio wants to construct an elite defense in Denver. He needs high-quality edge rushers to turn that dream into a reality. They’re going to give someone big money at the position this offseason, Dupree projects to be a prime target.

This is the sort of potential deal that might get panned as an overpay in the short-term but will turn out to be completely justifiable for the Broncos. Dupree isn’t the most consistent player in the NFL, but his elite ceiling will get him a big deal in the offseason.
