Joe Burrow has Andrew Luck’s 300 yard rookie record in sight.

It was always certain that Joe Burrow would be a standout quarterback; the question was always if he could transform into one with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Nearing the midway point into his rookie season and the former LSU star is roaring loud.

During his six-game start, Burrow has thrown for 1,617 yards, six touchdowns and four interceptions. In four games, he’s surpassed 300 passing yards. Three more starting Sunday against the Cleveland Browns and Burrow would forever be enshrined in the rookie record book.

The rookie record for 300-plus yard games is six, belonging to Andrew Luck with the Indianapolis Colts during the 2012 season. The former No.1 overall pick finished his first season behind an 11-5 regular-season record while throwing for 4,374 yards, 23 touchdowns and 18 interceptions.

Burrow’s start to the NFL has come with growing pains rather than struggles. Over the past three games, the top selection from last April finished with an overall 63.9 completion rating, 796 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions. Most recently, the Bengals blew a 21-point lead against the Indianapolis Colts in Lucas Oil Stadium.

Credit to Burrow who’s been one of the lone bright spots in the Jungle for 2020. Despite being sacked 24 times, the 23-year-old continues to develop as one of the next up-and-coming gunslingers in Zac Taylor’s scheme. Things could become tricky for No.9 if Cincinnati elects to be sellers at the NFL trade deadline on Nov.3.

Perhaps setting a new record would be a blessing in disguise for “Who Dey” Nation. For now, Burrow is just over the halfway mark to rookie immortality.
