WWE NXT was headlined by a tag team title main event that brought about the return of Pat McAfee to help Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan win gold.

WWE NXT came from the Capital Wrestling Center once again on Wednesday, featuring several prominent names across the yellow and black brand. There was a lot of action from match to match, but a big name from the NFL would have the last laugh in the main event.

The night immediately kicked off with a triple-threat match between Kushida, Tommaso Ciampa and Velveteen Dream. But the match did not start without a hitch as Ciampa jumped Dream immediately, before he could make it to the ring. Dream found himself in a two-on-one mugging early, before Ciampa turned his attention to Kushida for a moment.

Ciampa was in control of the match early, focusing on Dream’s arm while keeping Kushida out of the action. The match looked like it was over when Dream landed the Dream Valley Driver, only to eat a knee from Ciampa that knocked him out of the ring. Ciampa was unable to make the pin on Kushida. Kushida would take over the match, attacking both Ciampa’s and Dream’s arms relentlessly. When Kushida had Ciampa in an armbar, Dream landed a big Dream Over elbow drop, but he also could not make the pin.

Kushida found a way to get the pin after Ciampa was struck by Dream who landed a big shot with his cast. That allowed Kushida to hit a German Suplex with a bridge for the pin fall.

Ember Moon had a one-on-one match against Jessi Kamea. Kamea seemed to have a lot of confidence against the former champion in this match and that played into Moon’s hands. Kamea tried to fight back, getting her offense in and had some spots. But once Moon locked in a submission in the middle of the ring she was forced to submit.

Bronson Reed made his return to NXT and he had Austin Theory in his eye sights. Reed immediately went to work on Theory, who tried to use his quickness to stay ahead. Theory was finding some success until he ate a Powerslam followed up by a Senton Splash. Reed went to the top rope and landed the Tsunami on Theory, getting the pin fall victory.

In an odd turn of events, Theory would demand an immediate rematch which Reed agreed to. It would end in seconds after Reed hit a Samoan Drop and pinned Theory for the second time in less than two minutes.

Six-man tag action was next, Legado del Fantasma battled Isiah Scott, Ashante Adonis and Jake Atlas. The team of Adonis, Atlas and Scott worked very well at the start of the match. Joaquin Wilde was isolated, and they took turns delivering damage to him. Legado would not stay down for long, as they returned the favor to Adonis, using frequent tags to keep the fresh man in. Each man got their licks in on Adonis, as he tried to crawl over to his partners to make the tag.

Adonis would finally get out of the ring, giving Atlas the tag first, who eventually tagged out to Scott. The match broke down on the outside of the ring, leaving Adonis in the ring alone where he would eat a tag team maneuver and get pinned by Wilde.

Ever-Rise attacked Drake Maverick last week and paid for it with a tag match against Maverick and Killian Dain. Once Dain got into the ring, he went on a warpath, but Ever-Rise used sneak attacks to chop the big man down. Maverick would snap during the match, grabbing a steal chair and smashing both of their opponents over the backs leading to a disqualification loss.

Xia Li was looking to get into the win column and had to go through Kacy Catanzarao in a singles match to make it happen. Li was in control early, but Catanzaro would land some of her gymnastics-based offense. With Li reeling she rolls Li up in the middle of the ring to get the victory.

Timothy Thatcher was giving a demonstration in the ring before things got a bit out of hand, turning into a singles match. Anthony Greene did not have much of a chance to fight back before Thatcher attacked him, eventually finishing him off with a single-leg Boston Crab.

Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan got the call to step in for the Undisputed Era to face off against Breezango for the tag team titles. Breezango attempted to push the pace at the start of the match but Lorcan and Burch immediately slowed things down, attempting to grind the champions into the mat. Fandango would not stay down for long, rallying to force the challengers out of the ring.

The surprise switch for the match seemed to keep the champions off center as Lorcan and Burch were in control of much of the action. A masked man attacked Fandango while he was on the top rope. That allowed for Lorcan and Burch to land a low blow, planting Tyler Breeze in the middle of the ring. Burch pinned Breeze to get the pinfall.
