3 wide receivers the Seahawks should add after missing on Antonio Brown

Just because Antonio Brown is out, doesn’t mean the Seahawks won’t add a wide receiver.

Well, so much for Antonio Brown joining the 12th Man.

Following a brief visit with the franchise, the former Pittsburgh Steeler will join Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on a one-year contract. Brown, who was last seen working with the six-time Super Bowl winner in New England, now joins an offense that features Chris Godwin, Mike Evans, Rob Gronkowski and breakout star Ronald Jones.

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson stated earlier this week that Brown deserved another chance to continue his career following his up-and-down incidents over the past two seasons.

Now Brown will, just not in Seattle.

The Seahawks still need another weapon to complement the likes of D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett’s production. And with the NFL trade deadline approaching, multiple pass-catchers could become available to join the squad as they hope to contend for another NFC title.

Which wide receivers could help the Seattle Seahawks via trade? 

John Ross will more than likely be on the move, but he’s not the only target in Cincinnati on the chopping block. After a viral video showed Green failing to finish a route that led to a Joe Burrow interception, it’s clear his time in the Jungle is coming to a close. Sure, the New England Patriots are always going to be in the mix, but why shouldn’t Seattle throw out an offer?

During his stay in Cincinnati, Green was the definition of consistency as the team’s top target. He’s one of only three players to begin his NFL career with five consecutive 1,000-yard seasons and also tally at least six touchdowns in the process. Making Andy Dalton a quality start, Green’s ability to win in man coverage allows him to win after the catch and in the open field against weaker defensive backs.

Seattle would feature an offense that allows Lockett to thrive in the slot, Metcalf working as a vertical option and Green playing the middle of the field. The 2020 season has been a forgettable one for the seven-time Pro Bowler, as he’s collected 22 catches for 215 yards and has yet to score a touchdown. Perhaps a fresh start for Green would only add to Wilson’s success rate in finding the end zone.

Through five games, Wilson leads the NFL with 19 touchdowns. Adding Green’s smooth route-running skills on the outside would only add to that production for the remainder of the year.
