3 teams that should trade for Everson Griffen
By Scott Rogust
At the start of the 2020 season, the San Francisco 49ers were the last team that needed pass rushing help. This was a team that had the defending NFL Defensive Player of the Year and the most fearful front-seven in the entire league. Yet, things became disastrous for the 49ers in the first month of the campaign.
In Week 2, the 49ers lost Nick Bosa and Solomon Thomas to torn ACL’s during their cross-conference game against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium. Sure, the 49ers still have Arik Armstead and rookie Javon Kinlaw to pick up the pace, but it couldn’t hurt to add some help. Even though the 49ers have allowed just 203.3 passing yards per game (third-fewest in league), they have just 12 sacks through seven games. That’s uncharacteristic of San Francisco.
The 49ers might technically be in last place in the NFC West, but they still own a 4-3 record on the season. If San Francisco wants to make a return trip to the Super Bowl and get the job done, they need to consider acquiring Griffen.
