Cowboys ownership backs Mike McCarthy despite frustrating start

The Cowboys remain sold on Mike McCarthy, even after a 2-5 start.

The Dallas Cowboys are leaking coolant under head coach Mike McCarthy, as they slipped to 2-5 following a complete drubbing at the hands of Ron Rivera and the Washington Football Team in which they looked out of sorts from the jump.

The Jones family remains undeterred by this poor start, as they are adamant McCarthy is the right coach for this team despite the 2-5 start that featured two wins that came on last-second field goals.

While some of the offensive issues can be excused by the fact that Prescott was knocked out for the year and Andy Dalton looks like a shell of himself, McCarthy’s hire of defensive coordinator Mike Nolan might bring about his downfall. Dallas is in the bottom five in the league in yards per game and is giving up an astonishing 34.7 points per game despite starting six former Pro Bowlers on defense.

Aaron Rodgers’ criticisms of his former head coach with the Green Bay Packers are starting to show up in Dallas, as McCarthy’s Cowboys look unprepared, incapable of adjusting, and lifeless at the first sign of adversity. In a wide-open NFC East that is clearly the worst division in football, the Cowboys should be running away with this division, not below Kyle Allen’s Washington.
