The NFC East has been one of the worst divisions in the NFL so far. Currently, not one team has a winning record. The Dallas Cowboys were projected to take the division title home, with the Philadelphia Eagles challenging them. Although, injuries have slammed both teams.
Here is an example. The lead back for the Eagles is Miles Sanders. However, he is dealing with an injury, so Boston Scott is slated to gain a lot of reps.
Filling in for Sanders during the team’s Week 7 game against the New York Giants, Scott went for 46 rushing yards on 12 attempts with a receiving score and 46 receiving yards. When you look at his numbers, you are probably wondering where his value is.
Scott has not been too productive in his limited role. But, he is due to see more reps even if Sanders returns fully healthy in Week 8. The coaching staff will want to limit Sanders as he comes back from injury, and the Eagles host the Dallas Cowboys this week.
Dallas has a lot of things going on, and one of the team’s major areas of concern is the defense. Against the run, they have allowed a lot of rushing yards to running backs, towards the top portion of the NFL, as well allowing backs to find the end zone.
With the receivers for the Eagles dealing with their own health struggles, Carson Wentz and the offense will probably lean on the rushing attack this week. Meaning, Scott will still get his carries.
Do not let Sanders potentially returning scare you off Scott. There is still a high potential for him to do damage as the team will probably look to cycle Sanders and Scott throughout the night.
