NFL is not punishing Jon Bostic for his dirty hit on Andy Dalton

After concussing Cowboys quarterback Andy Dalton on Sunday, Jon Bostic will not face any punishment for his hit. 

One of the worst moments of the Dallas Cowboys blowout loss to the Washington Football Team wasn’t in the box score. Jon Bostic’s blatant dirty hit on Andy Dalton, one which was brutal to watch and forced Dalton from the game, was overwhelmingly deemed something that has no place in football.

The NFL seemingly disagrees.

According to Adam Schefter, the NFL will not be suspending Bostic following his dirty hit on Andy Dalton.

“After being ejected Sunday, Washington LB Jon Bostic is not expected to be suspended for his hit on Dallas QB Andy Dalton, per source.” Schefter reported on Monday morning.

Bostic was ejected from the game, but nothing else came of the incident.

Dallas was forced to turn to its third-string quarterback, but the only thing that needs to be taken away from this is the unnecessary brutality of the hit that Bostic delivered. There was absolutely no need for it to happen, and saying it was uncalled for goes beyond the explanation needed to define what happened.

Simply put, there’s no place for this in football yet the league itself has seemingly shrugged this off. It’s hard to overstate how disappointing that is.

Dalton is in concussion protocol and his status for Week 8 is in doubt. The Cowboys, while absolutely atrocious, are now scrambling to figure out what to do at quarterback even more so than they already were. If Dalton is unavailable to play, Ben DiNucci will be the starter but the Cowboys will still need a backup on the roster.

The NFL failing to punish Bostic for this hit doesn’t make any sense, yet why would we expect logic or reason from an organization that seems devoid of such things to a detrimental extent?
