Blake Snell has NSFW reaction to getting pulled early by Kevin Cash (Video)
Blake Snell was not happy when Kevin Cash pulled him in Game 6.
Facing a 3-2 deficit in Game 6 of the World Series, the Tampa Bay Rays had their backs against the wall Tuesday night. They needed a win against the Los Angeles Dodgers to force a Game 7, extend their season and keep their hopes of winning a championship alive.
Rays pitcher Blake Snell put on a stellar performance with that frame of mind, giving up just one hit with zero runs and nine strikeouts through five innings. But when he gave up his second hit in the bottom of the sixth, manager Kevin Cash (over)stepped in, as he’s already done this postseason, and pulled his starting pitcher.
Suffice it to say Snell was not happy with the decision.
We don’t blame Blake Snell for yelling “F**king hell” on this one
This is familiar, frustrating territory for Snell. In Game 6 of the ALCS against the Houston Astros, Snell was pitching a shutout when Cash pulled him. The manager then did the same thing to Charlie Morton. And now he’s done it once again to Snell in the middle of a big-time performance on baseball’s biggest stage.
Even worse, that decision immediately came back to haunt the Rays, who had been clinging to a 1-0 lead all night. Not long after bringing in Nick Anderson, the Dodgers brought home Mookie Betts to tie the game, then scored again on a wild pitch from Anderson to take a 2-1 lead.
Thanks to this cringeworthy managerial decision, the momentum completely swung in LA’s favor after Tampa Bay had led all night long. If the Dodgers wind up pulling out this Game 6 win, no one will ever forget Cash’s awful decision to pull Snell in the bottom of the sixth.
