Cody Bellinger had an unexpected visit from a wasp in the batter’s box.

There wasn’t a ton of action going on in Game 6, but don’t tell that to Cody Bellinger.

The Los Angeles Dodgers centerfielder was minding his own business trying to get a hit off Tampa Bay Rays starter Blake Snell. Then all of the sudden, a vicious wasp decided it needed to hang out in the batter’s box, too. Bellinger was not having it, as he took his bat and tried to swat it out of the air. Everything is bigger in Texas, especially wasps that are trying to end your life.

Will the wasp help wake up the Dodgers’ bats?

Los Angeles couldn’t do much of anything with Snell on the mound. He was pitching about as well as he did when he won the AL Cy Young back in 2017. Fate would have it he would be removed from the game in the bottom of the sixth inning after giving up a hit by manager Kevin Cash. That proved to be a huge mistake for the Rays manager, as the Dodgers would take a 2-1 lead.

The Dodgers were largely asleep offensively before the bottom of the sixth inning. Perhaps Bellinger swatting at the Arlington, Texas wasp helped spark something in his Los Angeles teammates? The Dodgers are one game away from winning their first World Series Championship since 1988. Every run is precious in the postseason, but this offense is capable of putting up a ton.

Bellinger may have had trouble with the wasp, but he will be just fine when the Dodgers win it all.
