FanDuel NFL 2020: Best lineup for Week 8

FLEX Option: D’Andre Swift $6,300

For the second week in a row, D’Andre Swift finds himself in the FLEX role. The Detroit Lions running back has taken over the top duties from Adrian Peterson. His role will expand as the weeks go on. He grew off his breakout performance in Week 6 and scored a touchdown in Week 7.

The Lions claim Peterson is still the starter, but the points say different. They should, since Swift probably gives the Lions a better chance at a big play. Swift can break tackles and make people miss as good as any of the rookie running backs. He deserves more of a chance, and if Matt Patricia wants to save his job he will give the best running back he has the ball more often.

Swift has done the best with his opportunities so far this season. He wasn’t great against the Falcons, with nine rushes for 27 yards, but he did add four receptions. The stat line is one of his worst of the season if you take away the touchdown. The Lions need to give him opportunity, especially against a stingy run defense like Indianapolis. This matchup needs more creative playcalling than what Peterson gives the team.

Swift should get more touches despite last week’s performance. Again, the Colts rush defense has played well, but they allow the occasional big play. Swift would be the one getting that play, and it could make your week.
