Happy birthday, Nick Saban.

Nick Saban will have the nicest 69th birthday possible by leading Alabama football to victory.

Yes, his Alabama Crimson Tide will have a crazy pirate coaching on the other sideline, but unless Mike Leach actually dresses up as a pirate, Saban will stay perfect this season. Yes, Saban’s birthday falls on Halloween. While he has only coached once on his birthday, he got a 29-5 over the Northwestern Wildcats when he was leading the 1998 Michigan State Spartans.

Saban hopes to have a nice birthday by beating Mississippi State

Saban may not partake in the costume party Leach absolutely and unequivocally would be game for, as he’s more interested in winning championships that dressing more like a pirate than “The Pirate.” While most people who turn 69 are a few years into retirement, Saban is trying to win more championships than Paul “Bear” Bryant ever could at Alabama. He’s got work to do.

With this game being broadcast on ESPN, the viewing public demands Saban be fed birthday cake in the postgame celebration. Though blowing out candles on said birthday cake may be a thing of the past, Saban can still celebrate by blowing out the Mississippi State Bulldogs and asserting their dominance over them in the SEC West. As stated before, you only turn 69 once.

Here is to Saban having the nicest birthday he could ever have coaching football on Halloween.
