Dan Mullen has been fined and a total of five players are suspended for their actions in the brawl during the Florida-Missouri game.

Florida football head coach Dan Mullen has been fined $25,000 by the SEC for his actions during the brawl that erupted at the end of the first half in their game with Missouri.

The brawl started after a late hit on Florida quarterback Kyle Trask. Two Florida players, Zach Carter and Antwuan Powell have been suspended for the first-half vs. Georgia. Additionally, Missouri’s Chad Bailey, Dylan Spencer and Markell Utsey have been handed a half-game suspension. Missouri will be without those players when the Tigers play Georgia on Nov. 14. So Georgia will benefit from the brawl in two separate games.

Mullen released a statement saying, “I respect the decision from the conference office. As the head coach, it is my responsibility to defuse these types of situations, and I didn’t live up to that standard.”

The win for Florida was overshadowed by the ugly brawl on the field and now they’ll be short-handed in their biggest game of the year with the SEC East on the line vs. the Bulldogs.

SEC commissioner Greg Sankey admonished both programs in a statement:

“There is no place in college football for the kind of incident that took place at halftime of the Missouri at Florida game Saturday night,” SEC commissioner Greg Sankey said in a statement. “Everyone involved is responsible for meeting sportsmanship standards throughout each game. Running on the field to confront a game official, the gathering of teams in an on-field confrontation and student-athletes throwing punches are all disappointing at any time, but even more so as we work to support healthy competition during a pandemic.”
