The Champions League games on Wednesday kick off in Istanbul with Basaksehir hosting Manchester United in the club’s first-ever meeting. The two clubs will play two straight games against each other, with the reverse fixture being played at Old Trafford on Nov. 24.
Basaksehir are winless through their first two games of the group stage. In addition to a terrible start to the Champions League, the Istanbul club is struggling in their domestic league. Through seven games, Basaksehir only have 10 points. If the Turkish club are going to keep their Champions League dreams alive, they will have to upset United on Wednesday.
Manchester United have played their best in the Champions League and have been horrible in the Premier League. United defeated Paris Saint-Germain in their first game and smashed RB Leipzig in their second game. The game against Leipzig was easily the best that the Red Devils have played all season. The game looked like it would be a breakout game for the club, but they returned to the Premier League and lost to Arsenal. Through six Premier League games, United have only seven points. Which United shows up on Wednesday is anyone’s guess.
