Key battleground states in Big Ten country were instrumental in voting Joe Biden as president over Donald Trump.

President Trump’s false claim that he saved the Big Ten football season has come back to bite him.

Swing states Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania have now all officially been called in favor of former Vice President Joe Biden who now has the necessary electoral votes to be the next president of the United States.

Wisconsin and Michigan were called in favor of Biden earlier in the week while Pennsylvania was called mid-morning on Saturday. It’s over barring lawsuits from the Trump campaign who will be seeking recounts in a handful of states, citing voter fraud despite no evidence.

During the summer when the Big Ten had canceled the football season due to mounting concerns about the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the long-term ramifications, Trump bodied his way into the conversation by telling the Big Ten to open up in a transparent bid to win those swing states so he could be re-elected.

Instead, it cost him and he’s now a one-term president who lost his battles in Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania who saw right through his phony attempt to take credit for saving the season.

And considering the state of the Big Ten football programs in those states, they needed a win to celebrate.

Wisconsin has been on pause since its opener due to a COVID outbreak that affected 27 people at its peak and resulted in their last two games being canceled. They may not have a chance to compete for the Big Ten championship because of the COVID pandemic which can be directly attributed to Trump’s inaction to confront the virus. He took zero responsibility and downplayed the virus at every turn, only acting when it was far too late and the proverbial damage had already been done.

In Michigan, the Spartans lost their opener to Rutgers after committing seven turnovers to the worst team in the Big Ten since the Scarlet Knights joined the conference. Then, they went and upset Jim Harbaugh’s Michigan Wolverines, raising the temperature on his hot seat. That loss may result in Harbaugh’s time in Ann Arbor coming to an end. Certainly, losing to Indiana for the first time since 1987 would.

And then there’s Penn State where James Franklin’s Nittany Lions are 0-2 after losing to Indiana and Ohio State. They won’t win the Big Ten this year but fans can take solace in the fact it was their state that was the deciding factor in voting in Joe Biden and voting out Donald Trump.

In 2020 when the wins have been scarce for everyone, this is worth popping bottles over and celebrating all throughout the end of the year and to Inauguration Day.
