2020 is not going well for most of us, but especially not for Penn State football.
It’s been a rough year for a lot of people around the country. Many of us are ready to flip the calendar to 2021 and move on with a brighter year after the worst year for so many. That’s especially true for Penn State football fans who may wish the season was canceled after all.
The Nittany Lions lost to Indiana in overtime in the opener then got taken to the woodshed by Ohio State and were routed by “rival” Maryland on Saturday to fall to 0-3 for the first time since 2001.
Naturally, Twitter had a field day dunking repeatedly on the Nittany Lions that just goes to show you that 2020 is not the year of the Nittany Lion.
Twitter roasts Penn State football for their sorry start to the season

Penn State said “the state has done enough today”
— Andy Kalmowitz (@andy_witz) November 7, 2020
This is the most pathetic effort I have seen by a Penn State team in a long time. Outplayed and outcoached by Maryland through one half.
— Roar Lions Roar (@RLRblog) November 7, 2020
At least Pennsylvania came through with the votes for Joe Biden.
Penn State is playing like the whole team spent the week doing what we were all doing: watching voting results from their state.

Who had Michigan and Penn State bringing up the rear in the Big Ten East?
Good news for Michigan is that maybe it can beat Penn State. And good news for Penn State is that maybe it can beat Michigan.

If you're looking for a taste of the familiar in an upside down 2020, Michigan vs. Penn State could once again be a key battle in the Big Ten East.

(for 6th in the division instead of the usual 2nd)
Got to give the Big Ten credit for banning fans in the stands considering Penn State-Michigan still have to play.

Indiana most definitely is good and they most definitely broke Penn State beyond repair.
Indiana broke Penn State.

Taulia Tagovailoa has looked fantastic for Maryland. In his last six quarters, he’s 40-64 for 640 yards and 6 TD passes. Terps are hammering PennState 28-7.

Just don’t bet on Penn State this year.

It’s even worse news for Penn State off the field where they’re 0-for-10 when it comes to getting commitments from the state’s top recruits.
Which program is in worse shape, Penn State or Michigan?
— Ari Wasserman (@AriWasserman) November 7, 2020
I'd say Penn State because they are about to go 0-for-10 in the 2021 class with top-10 players in the state of Pennsylvania.
Seriously, is this the saddest field goal try ever? What is James Franklin thinking?
And, his 49-yard try is no good. I can't understand why Jordan Stout wasn't on for that, I can't fathom why Sean Clifford is still in the game, and I do believe that this is easily the worst Penn State performance of the James Franklin era. https://t.co/LK0qirAvNT

No, Penn State won’t fire Franklin even if things don’t turn around this year. After signing a six-year extension prior to the season, he’s owed nearly $40 million, so unless he leaves on his own to go to another job, he’s staying in not-so-Happy Valley.
THE DEFENSE WAS NOT ALLOWED INTO THE STADIUM. PENN STATE WON THE GAME, GOT 90 LEGAL POINTS. BAD THINGS HAPPENED WHICH OUR COACHES WERE NOT ALLOWED TO SEE. NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE. MILLIONS OF POINTS WERE SENT TO BIG TEN TEAMS WHO NEVER ASKED FOR THEM!
— Treb (@treblaw) November 7, 2020
Coming into this season, Indiana had lost 72 of its last 73 games against the trio of Penn State, Michigan and OSU. Have wins over two of them in the 1st three games.

Shoutout to Penn State for quickly becoming the biggest disappointment in the country so people can stop pretending it was Tennessee, as if there were any actual expectations around us this year. Thank you @PSUBarstool
