Washington Football Team quarterback Kyle Allen went down with a gruesome injury against the Giants, but it’s been revealed he somehow avoided the worst-case scenario.
Everyone in Washington was holding their breath on Sunday, as starting quarterback Kyle Allen went down with a nasty injury. The quarterback was down on the turf in an incredible amount of pain, and the replay of his injury is tough to watch.
Allen was carted off the field, with his teammates and even players on the Giants showing a tremendous amount of concern for the signal-caller. In the middle of the action, the details of Allen’s injury have been revealed.
Washington QB Kyle Allen has a dislocated ankle and a small chip of a bone in that ankle, per source. Very much dodged a bullet. MRI coming tomorrow. And while it's likely he's out for the year, the fact that there wasn't a bad break gives him a shot return.

Could be worse.
Kyle Allen was carted off the field on Sunday with what looks to be a season-ending injury
According to NFL insider Albert Breer, the quarterback has already been diagnosed with dislocated ankle and a small chip in the bone. As soon as he was injured, and after watching the replay a couple times, it really looked like Allen had suffered something far worse. That’s how bad things originally looked.
The fact that Allen actually might have a chance to return at some point this campaign lets you know that things really could have been much worse for him. With Allen out for an extended period of time, this offense now belongs to veteran signal-caller Alex Smith, who himself suffered a gruesome injury.
In Smith’s case, his return to the field this year has been one of the more inspirational storylines we’ve seen in the NFL. Now, he’ll have the opportunity to run the offense for Ron Rivera and showcase what he’s got left in the tank.
Meanwhile for Allen, he’ll have to miss some game time, but there’s still a small chance we can see him back on the field before 2020 comes to a close.
