While some Minnesota Vikings fans are crossing their fingers and hoping they perform poorly enough to end up with one of the top picks in the 2021 NFL Draft, Mike Zimmer’s crew might be on the verge of two division wins in a row. With Gary Kubiak’s offense finally starting to take shape, the Vikings are looking to get back in the playoff hunt with a win against the Detroit Lions.

The Vikings will have to contend with Matthew Stafford, just recently activated off of the COVID-19 list, and a Lions team that is trying everything in their power to stay alive in the NFC North. While these NFC North games are almost always complete dogfights, the Lions are not going into this game with all of their heavy hitters.

What to watch for in Lions vs Vikings

The biggest name that will not suit up today for Detroit is wide receiver Kenny Golladay, who picked up an injury late in the Lions’ loss against the Indianapolis Colts. Expect Danny Amendola, Marvin Jones, and rookie Quintez Cephus to get more snaps as a result of that injury. Even without Golladay, Detroit could have a field day against a banged-up secondary.

Kirk Cousins remains one of the league’s most inconsistent quarterbacks, meaning the Lions should expect a heavy dosage of Dalvin Cook running down their throats. After a four-touchdown performance in an unexpected road win against the Green Bay Packers, Cook and rookie receiver Justin Jefferson are doing everything they can to keep Minnesota breathing on offense.
