Tom Brady and Antonio Brown are off to a rough start as teammates in Tampa.

Sunday night was supposed to be about Antonio Brown showing up and dominating with Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The actual result was a 31-0 halftime deficit to the New Orleans Saints.

Brady went 11/22 for 96 yards in the first half and threw two awful interceptions. The second one came on some clear miscommunication with Brown and Brady may have held himself back from truly freaking out.

Brown and Brady off so far

The receiver seemed to stop in his tracks while the quarterback was expecting him to continue running. That was a fitting end to a first half in which the Saints made the Bucs look like one of the worst teams in the league.

Brown is back in the NFL and did have two catches for 16 yards in the first half. But Brady looked awful and the running backs combined for nine yards on three carries. Not exactly the gameplan in mind and the defense being hollow didn’t help that at all.

It is going to take time for Brady and Brown to build chemistry. The two only played one game together last year with the New England Patriots and the latter was out of football for over a year. He is going to make mistakes early on and just needs to prove he can be reliable enough to just stay on the roster.

One things fans do know is Brady doesn’t care about one’s past. If they are playing well, they will get the ball. If not, don’t expect a lot of targets.

The score being so lopsided should allow for Brady to target the veteran in the second half and build any sort of rhythm. However, another bad mistake may cause the quarterback to lose his cool in what was supposed to be a competitive divisional game.
