May your hammer be mighty, Josh Allen

Touchdown celebrations play a vital role in any NFL game. More often than not, the dance comes from an iconic meme, moment on the internet or famous movie scene. For Buffalo Bills Josh Allen and Dawson Knox, maybe this is a mix of all it.

During Allen’s touchdown run, the two meet in the middle, bless each other and then grab helmets with the opposite hands. In case you’re not an Andy Samberg fan, this is a highlight moment from the movie “Hot Rod” where Rod and his brother, Kevin, bless another before Rod’s big fight against his stepfather, Frank.

And no, this isn’t just a movie nerd calling it out. Even the Bills’ Twitter admitted this callback from the cult classic happened on the sideline.

Allen was the “God of War”  against Seattle’s secondary

It’s safe to say that Hot “Rod” Allen had a mighty hammer against the Seattle Seahawks Sunday afternoon. After back-to-back struggle outings, the third-year quarterback rebounded for one of his better career games. Throwing for 415 yards, three touchdowns and rushing for another, Allen was on-point helping his team grab the 44-34 victory.

At 6-2, the battle of the AFC East could go through Buffalo. Defensive discrepancies aside, Buffalo is looking like one of the more complete teams in the conference entering the second half of the season. Allen, who’s putting up career-best numbers, might be the cause of the team’s offensive resurgence after a second season with Brian Daboll as the offensive coordinator. Through eight games, the former top-10 pick has thrown for 2587 yards, 19 touchdowns, five interceptions and a career-high 68.9 percent completion rating.

Much like Rod, never count the underdog. Allen was criticized as another wannabe quarterback when selected seventh overall. Now, he’s going to be an x-factor on if Buffalo wants to party in the second half of the season.
