More bad news has arrived for the Dallas Cowboys, with standout rookie cornerback Trevon Diggs out 4-6 weeks with a fractured bone in his foot.

Just when you thought things couldn’t get any worse for Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys this season, some awful news has arrived on the injury front for the defense. In the heartbreaking loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 9, a game in which Dallas led most of the way, standout rookie cornerback Trevon Diggs went down with a foot injury.

Now, it’s been revealed that the former Alabama defensive back could actually be out for the rest of the season with a fractured bone. Simply terrible luck for the first-year cornerback and the entire Dallas team.

Trevon Diggs has an outside chance of playing again this season for the Dallas Cowboys

A second-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, Diggs had really been coming on strong for the Dallas defense this season. The 6-foot-1, 205-pounder had posted 48 tackles and two interceptions in his nine starts. Both of his interceptions came in the Week 8 loss against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Unfortunately for Diggs, has strong rookie campaign has come in a terrible year for Dallas as a whole. Following Sunday’s loss to the undefeated Pittsburgh Steelers at home, the Cowboys are now 2-7 on the year. With the Eagles at 3-4-1, it’s looking like Philadelphia, despite its terrible record themselves, is the favorite to win the NFC East this winter.

When Dak Prescott went down with his fractured ankle earlier in 2020, everyone knew this Dallas team would take a step backwards. However, no one ever imagined they’d be 2-7 through the first nine games of the year. Now, they’ll have even more adversity to overcome with Diggs potentially sidelined until 2021.
