This is the fourth game the SEC has been forced to take off the books for this weekend. We had already seen college football’s best conference postpone Auburn-Mississippi State, Texas A&M-Tennessee and, of course, Alabama-LSU.
Looking at the current College Football Top 25 Rankings, there’s genuine concern about what to do with these tilts. Realistically, the most important game in terms of making it up would be LSU and Alabama, considering the ramifications it has on the College Football Playoff.
Although anything is possible, the Crimson Tide appear best-positioned to make a run towards being in the CFP, currently slated at No. 1 with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Clemson Tigers and Ohio State Buckeyes in seeds Nos. 2-4, respectively.
However, The Texas A&M Aggies are No. 5 and so getting a likely win over the Tennessee Volunteers would be crucial towards their playoff dreams. It’s tough to imagine the SEC not finding a way to get those games played at some juncture.
As for the Auburn Tigers, they sit No. 24 in the latest poll but it’s not going to impact the season much if the game can’t be made up.
