Who are the fantasy football running back, wide receiver, tight end, defense or kicker that is going to unexpectedly score 30+ fantasy football points (FFP) in week 10?

Fantasy leagues, past and present, are filled with stories of  spectacular performances from unexpected players.  Here are a couple of examples from this season,

  • Minnesota Viking wide receiver Justin Jefferson is not a WR1 or WR2 but scored 39.8 FFP in week 6 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
  • In a week 5 cross-state win over Philadelphia, wide receiver Chase Claypool of Pittsburgh scored 4 touchdowns and had 42.6 FFP.

The following information lists the week 10 sleepers at running back, wide receiver, tight end, defense/special teams and kicker.  Players from the Atlanta Falcons, Dallas Cowboys, Kansas City Chiefs and New York Jets are excluded from this list because week 10 is a “Bye” week for these teams.

Sleepers at Running Back

  • Kareem Hunt, Cleveland Browns, is considered a RB2 on many fantasy teams with his 15.5 FFP per game average, but against the Houston defense he should score at least 25 points.  The Texans have the worst statistics against the run in the NFL.
  • Antonio Gibson, Washington Football Team, should be able to run against the porous Detroit Lions defense.  Currently, Gibson averages 13.2 FFP per game.  Last week the Lions allowed Dalvin Cook of the Minnesota VIkings to run for 206 yards and 2 touchdowns plus score 39.4 FFP.

Sleepers at Wide Receiver

  • Robert Woods, Los Angeles Rams, has been playing at a WR2 level but would give his team a big lift by playing well against division-rival Seattle.  The Seahawks have the weakest secondary in the NFL, so Woods should score 25+ points.
  • Jerry Jeudy and K.J. Hamler, Denver Broncos, are primed to have an outstanding game against the Raiders.  Jeudy had his best game of the season in week 9, catching 7 passes for 125 yards and a touchdown.  IHamler will probably be targeted more because Jeudy may not be 100% by Sunday due to a nagging shoulder injury and the other starter at wide receiver, Tim Patrick, is dealing with a hamstring injury.

Sleeper at Tight End

  • Noah Fant, Denver Broncos, has dealt with injuries that have slowed his development as one of the league’s Tier 1 tight ends.  Expect Denver quarterback Drew Lock to target Fant more this week given the health status of receivers Jeudy and Patrick.

Sleeper Defense and Special Teams

  • The Miami defense and special teams are part of the reason that the Dolphins (5-3) are on a 4-game winning streak.  The Miami defense has scored 2 touchdowns on fumble recoveries in the last 2 games.  They also lead the league in punt returns with a 13.94 yards per return average.

Sleeper at Kicker

  • Jason Sanders, Miami Dolphins, has a consecutive streak of 20 successful field goals.  The latest field goal was the difference in the Dolphins’ 34-31 win against the Arizona Cardinals in week 9.  Sanders is ranked No. 7 among kickers in fantasy football with 86 FFP.
