Even Desmond Howard thinks the Michigan Wolverines will lose to the Wisconsin Badgers.

It’s been a tough start to the 2020 season for Jim Harbaugh and Michigan. Sitting at 1-2 in the early campaign, the Wolverines have opted to disappoint fans in Ann Arbor a little earlier than usual.

Harbaugh is essentially facing a must-win on Saturday night against a very tough Wisconsin team. The Badgers are ranked in the top-15 for a reason, and even without Jack Coan, Paul Chryst’s bunch possesses their usual dominant offensive line and a formidable run game to boot.

Surely, this is what Desmond Howard was thinking on College Gameday Saturday morning when he made the shocking decision to pick against his alma mater.

Michigan is reaching new lows

Howard was the 1991 Heisman Trophy winner and is considered an all-time great at Michigan. It’s hard to recall another instance where he so defiantly picked against his Wolverines, but 2020 has offered up many firsts. It doesn’t help that the Wolverines were just trounced by Indiana, making Don Brown’s defense look weak in the process.

Perhaps the most telling part of Howard’s segment was that he didn’t even fight back when Jack Nicklaus picked against his Wolverines and even apologized shortly thereafter. The entire Gameday crew was shocked by Howard’s admission that even he had lost hope in the 2020 version of the Michigan Wolverines.

The schedule does get a little easier for Michigan moving forward, with match-ups against Penn State and Rutgers the next two weeks. Should they be able to pull off the home upset Saturday night, they could salvage this season. If not, those calling for Harbaugh’s job on a routine basis will grow louder by the week.

Not even Desmond Howard can spin that into a positive.
