2020 NFL power rankings, Week 11: Raiders roll, Bills stunned
Washington would start its third different quarterback in 2020 as Alex Smith (390 passing yards) and the club took on the Lions at Detroit. Down 24-3 in the second quarter, Ron Rivera’s club eventually tied the score with 6:09 to play. The teams traded field goals and the game appeared to be headed into overtime. But rookie defensive end Chase Young was nailed for roughing the passer in the final minute and game Washington lost a heartbreaker.
Mike McCarthy’s team had a 10-point lead over the undefeated Steelers in Week 9 but the bottom line was the team’s offense only reached the end zone one time in the 24-19 setback to Pittsburgh. The disappointing Cowboys have used four different starting quarterbacks and that includes Dak Prescott, who is on the mend. So will it be Garrett Gilbert or veteran Andy Dalton be behind center when the club takes on the Vikings at Minnesota?
The Texans headed to Cleveland for the first time since 2014 and Houston had won the previous five meetings dating back to 2008. Deshaun Watson and the Houston offense managed only 243 yards of total offense. But it was the Texans’ bottom-ranked run defense that hurt Romeo Crennel’s team all afternoon. The Texans allowed 231 yards on the ground on 41 attempts and gave up 100-plus yards to both Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt.
Under interim head coach Raheem Morris, the Falcons own a 3-1 record after the club got off to a 0-5 start under Dan Quinn this year. Quarterback Matt Ryan and the Atlanta offense have had very few problems moving the football and scoring points. But the defense has been an issue for too many years. This season may have been a lot different if the team didn’t squander fourth-quarter leads in devastating losses to the Bears, Cowboys and Lions.
