No, the theme for this week’s list is not “skill position players in offenses with uncertain quarterback situations.” Michael Gallup is in that same boat with Logan Thomas and Breshad Perriman as far as what is going on under center.
However, Gallup’s situation differs mightily when it comes to past success and weapons around him. Yes, Dak Prescott is down and Andy Dalton has had to miss time due to a concussion and COVID-19, but it does sound like Dalton will be starting again once he is cleared.
Gallup was used more efficiently with Prescott, which could be said for most everyone on the team’s offense. Gallup still got his targets with Ben DiNucci in Week 8, and he saw seven targets with Garrett Gilbert in Week 9.
With Dalton, Gallup has not been used too much. But, with more reps under Dalton’s belt, Gallup could become that big-play, third option who can break off big gains who we saw early this season, and this is the best time to get right. Why?
Dallas was on bye in Week 10, which comes at a great time as they try to get Dalton back healthy and work on some things coming out of the break. Also, the Cowboys will play the Minnesota Vikings on the road. An opponent of the Vikings usually finds themselves on this list each week, because the team still remains one of the worst passing defenses in the NFL.
Gallup has compiled big days in the past, and he could deliver a clutch fantasy day against the Vikings in Week 11.
