5-star Georgia target will announce his commitment on Wednesday morning
Will the Georgia Bulldogs and Kirby Smart land a commitment from 5-star linebacker Smael Mondon on Wednesday morning?
The long wait could finally be over for Georgia Bulldogs fans everywhere, as one of the team’s most-coveted prospects is about to shut down his recruitment and make a decision. For months now, 5-star linebacker Smael Mondon has been linked with a potential verbal to Georgia.
Come Wednesday morning, Mondon will announce his college commitment, with the expectation that he’ll announce either for the Bulldogs or decide to take his talents to Auburn. Where will the 6-3, 220-pounder end up playing for the next 4-5 years?
Georgia fans everywhere are hoping that linebacker Smael Mondon will commit to the Bulldogs
Should Kirby Smart and his coaching staff end up receiving the news they’re hoping for, it’d be a monster get for the program. Mondon is ranked five stars and the No. 1 outside linebacker in the country per 247Sports. He’s also the No. 9 player nationally for the 2021 class.
Throughout his recruitment, the Dallas, Ga., product has picked up nearly 40 offers, with Georgia, Auburn, Florida, Tennessee, Alabama, Arkansas, Clemson and many others putting a tender on the table. However, Mondon will be headed to the SEC, with it looking like it’ll either be Auburn or Georgia being the school he’ll suit up for.
Mondon is no stranger to Athens, as he’s taken multiple unofficial visits to the Georgia campus. He was hoping to take all five of his official visits this fall before making a decision, but things changed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
With that being said, Mondon has made his choice and will now be ready to let everyone know what his decision is. We’ll find out soon enough if it’s Georgia.
