NFL power rankings, Week 11: Patriots rise, Seahawks fall
The New England Patriots made a leap in the NFL power rankings this week, while the Seattle Seahawks fall after losing their third game in four contests.
Finally, a week without a loss!
The Jaguars hung tough against the Packers, but it wasn’t enough.
Alex Smith is a tremendous story and he played well, but Washington couldn’t best Detroit.
Finally, the Cowboys weren’t a national disaster for a week.
The Texans couldn’t score against Cleveland. Houston moved the ball a bit but kept bogging down. It’s all over.
It’s hard to see any scenario where Anthony Lynn returns. This team is a talented mess.
So many thought the Bengals would fight the Steelers for a win on Sunday. Not so much.
The injuries are simply proving too much. Nothing to be ashamed of, just one of those years.
We can all move on from considering Drew Lock as a franchise quarterback. He’s not one.
Carolina has largely been a tough out — not so much against the Buccaneers — but losing five straight is ugly.
Quietly, the Giants have won three of their last five and suddenly are within a game of the lead in the NFC East. They aren’t good, but they’re improving. I think.
Off a bye week, with a chance to make a huge move in the division, and the Eagles barely bothered to make the game competitive against New York.
Off the bye, Atlanta’s Super Bowl: a game with the Saints.
Chicago isn’t good, and without any legitimate quarterback on the roster, the season is spiraling out of control.
There’s been a ton of ugly football this year. Evidence? The Lions rank 18th and moved up three spots after blowing a 21-point lead, at home, against Washington.
The Patriots saved their season on a short week, in the driving rain against Baltimore. Gutsy win and now Houston. Perhaps the worm is turning.
Minnesota is alive for now, and it draws the Cowboys at home this weekend. Could be at .500 soon with serious momentum.
Don’t know what to say about the Browns. They beat the Texans in a borderline tornado. It wasn’t easy, but they got the win.
Tennessee takes a huge drop this week. The Titans have lost three of four and the defense has been awful. Special teams are also reeling.
Earlier in the season, this space said Russell Wilson would eventually stop playing perfectly, and the Seahawks would have major issues if the defense didn’t figure it out. Well, here we are.
When the Colts aren’t submarined by Philip Rivers, they can win. The defense is really good and the coaching is excellent.
Tua Tagovailoa wasn’t asked to do much on Sunday, but that’s a good thing. Miami’s defense and special teams are creating scoring chances at will.
Los Angeles is playing great defense, the offense is doing enough and right now, the Rams might be the most complete team in the NFC West.
Your first-place Cardinals! Arizona lives on the edge week after week, but man the Cardinals are fun. Kyler Murray is a human video game, and DeAndre Hopkins is absurd.
The Raiders keep winning. They smashed the Broncos 30-12 on Sunday, making it three of four as they head into a Sunday night tilt with the Chiefs. Huge, huge opportunity.
Bad loss to the Patriots, and now the Titans and Steelers over the next 10 days. Time to get it done.
The Bills lost on a Hail Mary, but they were lucky to be in that spot. Buffalo needed three field goals of 54+ yards, and Josh Allen had two interceptions dropped. It was a sloppy game with a wild ending.
Nice job by the Buccaneers to bounce back after a hideous showing against the Saints. Tampa Bay has to keep its edge, with the Rams on Monday night followed by a short week and the Chiefs.
If the Packers had lost to the Jags, they’d have dropped out of the top 10. However, they win, so they simply get the stink eye.
Provided Drew Brees won’t miss time, the Saints should feel great. A ho-hum win over the Niners keeps them in first place of the NFC South.
The NFL’s only perfect team. The Steelers keep rolling. Up next, Jacksonville.
Kansas City comes off its bye with good health, and now the Chiefs get a chance to exact revenge on the Raiders, who gave them their only loss this season.
