Oklahoma football’s rivalry series with Oklahoma State football gives us clutch performances.

Oklahoma football vs. Oklahoma State football brings out the best performances in the Big 12.

Despite it being a lopsided rivalry grossly in the Oklahoma Sooners’ favor, the Bedlam Series between Oklahoma and the Oklahoma State Cowboys has one of the best names in college football, as well as being one of the signature games we look forward to each Big 12 season. All we know is if you want to win big in Bedlam, a Cowboy or a Sooner must come up clutch.

Best performances by Oklahoma-Oklahoma State players in the Bedlam Series

Rashaun Woods. 856. WR. 2001. 5. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

Oklahoma State wide receiver will always be a legend in Stillwater for his 2001 performance in Bedlam. This was Les Miles’ first year leading the Pokes. Going up against a far superior team in Oklahoma, a late touchdown reception by Woods proved to be the difference in the 16-13 win for the Pokes. The future first-rounder had eight catches for 129 yards and the greatest touchdown of his football career in the 2001 Bedlam game.

Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 2011. RB. Joseph Randle. 4. player. 856

2011 was a special year for Oklahoma State. The Cowboys won the Big 12 and nearly made it to the national championship game had they not lost late in the season to the Iowa State Cyclones in Ames. The big-time playmaker for them in Bedlam that season was running back Joseph Randle. He had 19 carries for 151 yards and two touchdowns in the 44-10 win for No. 3 Oklahoma State.

Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 3. player. QB. 2008. Sam Bradford. 815

Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford went on to win the Heisman Trophy at the end of his sophomore season. In one of the finest games of his Sooners career, he completed 30-of-44 passes for 370 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions. The future No. 1 overall pick of the St. Louis Rams also had a rushing touchdown on one of his four rushing attempts to hold the Pokes at bay in the 61-41 win in the 2008 installment of Bedlam.

2004. 2. 815. Scouting Report. RB. Adrian Peterson. player. Pick Analysis

It is hard to believe that Adrian Peterson was only a true freshman in 2004. This was the best season a freshman running back had in college football since Herschel Walker played for the 1980 Georgia Bulldogs. In Bedlam, Peterson had 33 carries for 249 yards and a touchdown as the No. 2 Sooners escaped with a 38-35 win over their in-state rivals. He made sure to hand Les Miles a loss in his last game at Oklahoma State before taking the head job at LSU.

Scouting Report. Baker Mayfield. 2017. 1. player. 815. Pick Analysis. QB

Baker Mayfield took home the Heisman Trophy during his senior season at Oklahoma in 2017 and led the Sooners to the College Football Playoff. Before doing that, he had a marvelous performance in leading No. 5 Oklahoma to a 62-52 win when he completed 24-of-36 passes for 598 yards, five touchdowns and two interceptions. The future No. 1  pick of the Cleveland Browns also added a rushing touchdown for six total touchdowns against the in-state rival.

Even though the Sooners hold a robust 89–18–7 lead in this rivalry series, Bedlam typically requires a team’s best players to play at their best to come out of it with a resounding victory. With the games often closer than we think, we are never entirely sure what is about to happen when the Cowboys take on the Sooners in Bedlam. Look for the 2020 game between No. 14 Oklahoma State and No. 18 Oklahoma to be no different on Saturday night from Norman.

Who will give us the most clutch performance in this year’s Bedlam Series?
