5. Swift has his way with the Panthers

The same thing fans ask about J.K. Dobbins in Baltimore is asked about D’Andre Swift in Detroit. Why won’t the team decide to hand the bulk of the carries and touches to the young talented playmaker?

The Lions finally answered the question when Swift was allotted the bulk of the RB attention against the Washington Football Team in Week 10. It took half of a season, but Swift finally usurped Adrian Peterson and Kerryon Johnson for the role of presumptive bellcow. It paid off. Swift tallied 26 PPR points vs. Washington, which was the fourth-most all running backs in Week 10.

Swift has arrived.

This week, he and the Lions will take on the Panthers in a road contest. Carolina will probably be without Teddy Bridgewater and Christian McCaffrey — oofta. The Lions would have had a reasonable chance to defeat the Panthers with those two men healthy, but now the pathway to victory is simpler.

The Panthers surrender 19.7 PPR points to running backs per game. This is the fifth-most in the league. Swift is the new RB1, and there is no reason to believe they will suddenly be better against halfbacks.

Start Swift.
