3.  Lamine Diane, Cal State Northridge

Lamine Diane is a toolsy forward out of Cal State Northridge. He went to high school at the now defunct but well-known Findlay Prep and played with high profile guys like P.J. Washington before deciding to go to Cal State Northridge to be coached by Mark Gottfried. Diane kind of has the trappings of a raw guy with excellent physical tools, but that wasn’t fully the case as he also flashed the occasional well-polished post move en route to some absolutely gaudy small conference numbers.

Diane was one of the most fun players to watch in college though, because of the insane variance in his game. Whenever a drive started, you could never tell if it was going to end in a jaw-dropping dunk or with the ball in the eighth row, and so an NBA team should have been willing to take him in the draft and bet on their ability to smooth out his rough edges and take advantage of the player left from that polishing. There are also valid concerns about his jumper, which is mechanically very busted, but Diane’s boom-or-bust playstyle and excellent physical profile gives him an upside that you don’t usually find late in the draft. As a result, it was surprising he went undrafted in the first place and is even more surprising that to this point he’s still unsigned.
