1. Clay Matthews

The main news surrounding Clay Matthews has been him trying to get money owed to him by the Los Angeles Rams. The veteran linebacker was released by the team back in March and has still had no luck landing elsewhere.

This is a bit of a surprise, even though Matthews is 34 years old. He is still a six-time Pro Bowler and also a Super Bowl champion who can be a trusted voice in any locker room.

Matthews is at a point in his life and career where he is only going to show up this late in the season for a top team. And with the way COVID can knock an entire position group out for a game or more, keeping an eye on Matthews makes sense.

He should be fresh at this point after appearing in 13 games for the Rams in 2019. The linebacker appeared to be a suitable player and was more of a cap casualty than anything else.

Teams may want to add players with experience at this point in time. But they also want to add those who are capable of showing up and playing right away. Matthews fits that description and can share his knowledge with an entire defensive unit in what is an already unique NFL season.
