Baker Mayfield is off to another rough start for the Browns, as he totally blew it on what should have been an easy touchdown throw.

Cleveland Browns fans everywhere have unfortunately gotten used to shaking their heads in disgust following a rough play from Baker Mayfield. Such was the case on Sunday in the team’s showdown against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Down near the goal-line, Mayfield had a golden opportunity to hit stud tight end Austin Hooper for an easy score. Instead, he sailed the ball over Hooper’s head. Seriously, how in the world did the two not connect here?

Shortly after that incompletion, Kevin Stefanski decided to keep his offense out on the field on 4th down to try and get six points up on the board. Even with Nick Chubb back, Cleveland gave the ball to Kareem Hunt. How did that turn out for them?

So, that terrible miss to Hooper led to Hunt being stopped short of the end zone, giving the Eagles the ball and the score tied at 0-0. Just when you think the Browns have some momentum following a win (last week against Houston), they start things off in the worst way possible against the Eagles.

For Mayfield, there’s just no excuse to miss that throw to Hooper. That’s literally what he’s paid to do. We’ll have to wait and see if that blunder early on comes back to haunt the Browns in this one.

Thankfully, the Browns defense took advantage of the enigma that is Carson Wentz, picking him off and taking the interception to the house.
