WWE Survivor Series is all about the need for either Monday Night Raw or SmackDown to stand atop the other as the dominant brand of the two.

“Brand Supremacy” is on the line each year at WWE Survivor Series. This year that mantra continued as Monday Night Raw and SmackDown faced off in Brand vs Brand action across several matches. Drew McIntyre and Roman Reigns were at the top of the card, but there was a lot else to look forward to throughout the night.

The first match of the PPV was the ten-man tag match between Raw and SmackDown. AJ Styles and Jey Uso kicked things off as the so-called captains of each team. Action went back and forth until an interesting turn. Seth Rollins offered him up as a sacrifice, eating the Brogue Kick from Sheamus and was immediately pinned and eliminated.

Kevin Owens eventually came into the match started cleaning up house, landing a series of Stunners. But he turned right into a Phenomenal Forearm from Styles who pinned him in the middle of the ring. Corbin was eliminated right after, putting SmackDown at a 5-2 disadvantage. Otis was so close to eliminating Braun Strowman, but a save by Riddle allowed him to catch Otis on the top rope, planting him with the Powerslam and leaving Uso as the single man on SmackDown.

Jey attempted to make a run but he was overwhelmed with the odds. He had Styles set up with for the Big Splash, but Keith Lee caught him in mid-air and transitioned to the Spirt Bomb to pick up the win for Team Raw.

The tag team match was the most anticipated match heading into the night between the Street Profits and New Day. These two teams broke out impressive offense from the very start. It was a lot of back-and-forth action until Kofi Kingston hit the YOLO dive on Montez Ford outside the ring, allowing them to isolate him from his partner.

Momentum shifted once Angelo Dawkins got the tag. New Day were able to take control, but Ford was able to kick out of the Midnight Hour, which has finished off multiple of opponents in the past. The New Day continued with the pressure, nearly having Ford pinned time after time. The finish came when Dawkins lifted Woods up from the top rope, allowed Ford to hit a Blockbuster from the top to get the win.

Sami Zayn and Bobby Lashley were out next for a singles match, Zayn as the Intercontinental champion, and Lashley as the United States champion. The story of this match was Lashley’s power versus Zayn trying to find a way to sneak out of the match. Zayn was eating an onslaught of offense until he forced Lashley into the ring post, still unable to get the win. Lashley was able to however, as Zayn had his attention focused on MVP, Lashley put him in the Hurt Lock to force the submission.

Sasha Banks and Asuka battled next as the women’s champions of their respective shows. The two ladies exchanged several grappling techniques, with Banks surprising many by showing she could keep up with Asuka. Not only did she keep up, but there were moments in which both ladies had the other in threatening positions. They exchanged pinning combinations for the last moments of the match, but Banks caught Asuka rolling through to get her first victory over Asuka and win for SmackDown.

The five-on-five women’s match was up next with five ladies from SmackDown and Raw meeting in the ring. Each of the ladies had their chance to shine early but no eliminations occurred.

Bayley was the first eliminated after taking a superplex onto the pile outside the ring. Peyton Royce used that opportunity to get the pin fall after rolling the former SmackDown champion back into the ring. Royce would be the next one out however, after submitting to the Sharpshooter from Natalya. She would be the next woman eliminated, after Baszler’s distraction she ate the Women’s Right and was pinned by Lacey Evans.

Ruby Riott would be the next elimination. Even though she had Baszler’s shoulders down, a distraction by Jax was enough to distract the referee until Riott passed out and was finished. Liv Morgan was eliminated next when she ate a Samoan Drop from Jax. This left Bianca Belair in the ring to face three women on her own.

Belair did the best that she could to fight off three women but was able to get rid of the tag team champions. However, brawling with Jax outside the ring led to Belair to be disqualified, leaving Lana as the sole survivor of Team Raw.

The main event brought out the two champions, Drew McIntyre, and Roman Reigns. They two men wrestled a methodical, slow-paced match. They took their time to inflict damage on each other, but Roman got the advantage early.

Reigns and McIntyre battled each other like everything was on the line. Roman tried to lock in the guillotine choke to finish the match, but McIntyre fought out of it, tossing Roman across the ring. The fight would also go outside the ring, with both men crashing through the table and the barricade around the ring. McIntyre had the match won, but Jey Uso came out to make the save. With his help, Roman was able to choke McIntyre unconscious for the win.
