Dabo Swinney is not interested in hearing what Florida State football has to say about COVID.

Dabo Swinney decided to double-down on COVID-19 criticism of Florida State football.

The Clemson football head coach called out the Florida State Seminoles for allegedly using COVID-19 as an excuse to not play the Tigers on Saturday. The game was postponed hours before kickoff to everyone’s surprise. Though Seminoles head coach Mike Norvell was not a fan of what Swinney had to say, that did not stop the Clemson head coach from letting it rip once again.

Dabo Swinney is doing a great job of making himself increasingly unlikable

For a guy who is the head coach of the current college dynasty, Swinney continues to put his foot in his mouth when at the podium and with his actions. It feels like eons ago he came under fire for wearing a “Football Matters” t-shirt in the midst of the Black Lives Matter movement. Despite his star quarterback Trevor Lawrence contracting the virus, why is Swinney trivializing it like this?

Keep in mind Norvell contracted the virus ahead of Florida State’s huge rivalry game vs. the Miami Hurricanes. Though the Seminoles have routinely gotten their teeth kicked in this year, why would they not want to play one of their biggest rivals this season with an attempt to play spoiler? Players go to Florida State to play in big games vs. teams like Clemson. Swinney comes off bitter.

Ultimately, we can understand why Swinney is upset. I mean, his team did travel from Clemson, South Carolina to Tallahassee, Florida in the middle of a global pandemic and had their rivalry game vs. the ‘Noles postponed indefinitely merely hours before kickoff. It is a frustrating situation that could blow anyone’s gasket, but Swinney has to do a better job of reading the room than this.

Until he earns a PhD, Swinney should let the medical experts decide was is safe and what is not.
