Dabo Swinney dropped an atomic truth bomb on the Florida State football program.

Clemson was set for a matchup with Florida State this past weekend until the Seminoles decided to pull out of the game due to COVID-19 concerns. The move came on gameday and Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney was not pleased.

He made a claim that Florida State simply did not want to play Clemson. Seminoles head coach Mike Norvell called that a lie and the battle was on. Swinney has now delivered the final blow with a truth bomb to end this discussion for good.

Swinney cuts FSU deep

Talk about a spot-on passive aggressive comment. Swinney is not wrong here. He has been the full-time head coach at Clemson since 2009 and has won two national championships in that span. A true dynasty is in place at Clemson the way one used to be at Florida State.

The Seminoles won a national championship under Jimbo Fisher in 2013. He resigned late in 2017 and was replaced by Willie Taggart, who didn’t even make it two full seasons. Now Norvell is off to a 2-6 start in his first season.

Florida State has not had double-digit wins since 2016 and was a massive underdog last week against Clemson. Ducking a game seems a bit suspect, but Swinney apparently has his reasons to think that happened.

A win over Florida State wouldn’t have changed much for No. 4 Clemson, but does mean they will go three weeks between games given Saturday’s matchup against Pittsburgh is played. Trevor Lawrence was supposed to play against Florida State and now gets an extra week to prepare after coming back from COVID-19. Maybe that ends up being a silver lining if he still wasn’t at full-strength, even if the lost game hurts his Heisman chances.

Swinney is mad and all Florida State fans can do is take what he said and move on. His comment may be even worse than suffering a loss on the field based on the reflection that has to happen when listening to his truth bomb.
