2021 NFL Mock Draft: BYU quarterback Zach Wilson enters the top 5
By Brad Weiss
The New York Giants would run up to the podium with their index card if this scenario played out, as they get the best linebacker in the draft class with the No. 7 overall pick. Penn State backer Micah Parsons is likely ticketed for the top-5 picks, but if quarterbacks go early, as they usually do, he could fall.
In fairness, the Giants probably need an offensive player here, as their defense has been good this season, but linebacker is still an issue. In Parsons, they could be getting a generational talent at the position, making a solid defensive unit that much better moving forward.
The Miami Dolphins will hold two first-round picks next year, this after trading away Laremy Tunsil to the Houston Texans. With this pick, the one they got from the Texans, they bring in a weapon for rookie quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, adding his former Alabama teammate, Jaylen Waddle.
Waddle is a special talent and his relationship with the Dolphins’ new franchise quarterback is what lands him here at No. 8 overall. Miami is a lot better than advertised this season, and could actually make it to the playoffs, but since the Texans are so bad, they still could net a top-10 pick.
The Atlanta Falcons were absolutely embarrassed by the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, and it was not a Drew Brees-led Saints team, but a Taysom Hill-led Saints team. That tells you all you need to know about this team, who has already fired their head coach and could make wholesale changes next offseason.
After turning the page on the edge rusher group, getting rid of the likes of Vic Beasley Jr. and Takkarist McKinley in the last two years, the Falcons add the best edge rusher in this class in Gregory Rousseau. This kid is a sack machine, and after sitting out the 2020 college football season, he is going to be ready to go next Spring.
