The 12th annual Dr. Pepper tuition giveaway will look a little different this year. It will be recorded with the help of YouTube stars Dude Perfect at their headquarters in Frisco, Texas.

How many footballs can you throw into an oversized Dr. Pepper can in 30 seconds? How hard will you work to become extremely talented at that unique skill when $125,000 dollars of college  tuition is on the line?

This year, there is the benefit of extra coaching and support has coming from the talented YouTube trick shot artists and entertainers Dude Perfect who is hosting the filming while giving two college students the Dude Perfect experience of a life time.

Preston Barnett is studying computer science at Texas A&M University. Barnett is interested in learning how to program drones to autonomously provide aid in emergency situations. Sounds like someone who would appreciate the work of Dude Perfect.

“Being here is absolutely incredible just getting to see everyone’s faces, actually seeing them in real life has been surreal,” Barnett said.

Roshard Jackson is the other finalist. Jackson has been studying mechanical engineering at Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University. Jackson knew he needed help with college tuition and had been planning ahead trying to get a scholarship anyway possible.

“I saw the tuition giveaway probably a year ago but I wasn’t 18 yet,” Jackson said. “I was looking for scholarships cause I knew I needed to pay for college and this is before I was suppose to get a full ride. After I saw it ( Dr. Pepper tuition giveaway ) I put it on my calendar for my 18th birthday.”

The two competitors will go about the competition differently. Barnett plans to throw his footballs via the chest pass while Jackson will compete using the standard quarterback form.

The world will get to see who won the competition live on tape on Saturday, December 12.

The Dr. Pepper Tuition Giveaway program has been an incredible success over the years and has awarded over $10 million to college students in partnership with Scholarship America. This year you can help contribute as Dr. Pepper will donate $1 to Scholarship America for every Dr Pepper purchase where a consumer texts the word ‘TUITION’ to 21688.
