Ian Book is doing Brett Favre and Patrick Mahomes things for Notre Dame.

Ian Book continues to play with reckless abandon but it’s working out for the Notre Dame signal-caller who has now gone 234 consecutive passes without an interception. And it’s that type of confidence that allowed Book to complete a back-handed fling on third down to keep a drive alive.

It was reminiscent of something Favre would have done back in the day with the Green Bay Packers or something Mahomes could be seen doing on a Sunday for the Kansas City Chiefs.

It’s definitely something that Notre Dame football coach Brian Kelly was likely screaming for Book not to do and then after it was completed breathed a huge sigh of relief.

Notre Dame holds a 24-17 lead over North Carolina in the fourth quarter as the Fighting Irish look to remain undefeated and head toward a College Football Playoff berth.

With more plays like this from Book, they’ll be well on their way.
