Nick Saban watched the Iron Bowl just like a fan, meaning he did a lot of yelling at the TV.

Alabama football coach Nick Saban had to watch the Iron Bowl in isolation after testing positive for the coronavirus earlier in the week. Steve Sarkisian acted as the head coach on his behalf and guided the Crimson Tide to a blowout 42-13 win over the rival Auburn Tigers.

Mac Jones threw for five touchdowns, DeVonta Smith had another game and Naje Harris maintained his lead with rushing touchdowns over the rest of the nation.

But for Saban, this was a feeling he didn’t want to experience again.

Watching the game from his home like so many Alabama football fans, Saban admitted feeling helpless and yelling at his TV a few times.

Saban revealed his diagnosis on Wednesday but maintained he felt fine throughout and is encouraged with his prognosis. The worst part of having COVID it sounds like from Saban’s perspective was being away from the team for a few days and especially on Senior Day where he couldn’t be with the team as they played Auburn.

Saban does sound like many fans who watch Alabama and yell and holler at their TV screens. Thankfully, it all worked out on the scoreboard for the Crimson Tide who remain undefeated and should once again be the No. 1 team in Tuesday’s College Football Playoff rankings.

Alabama takes on LSU next Saturday and they hope Saban will be symptom-free and be able to rejoin the team for the showdown with the Tigers.
