Clemson football had no problem asserting its dominance over Pitt football on Saturday.

Clemson demonstrated why it is one of the best teams in the nation with a 52-17 win over Pitt as Trevor Lawrence made his long-awaited return to the Tigers starting lineup.

After falling a few weeks ago vs. the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, the Clemson Tigers got back to good vs. an overwhelmed Pittsburgh Panthers team. This was expected because that loss up in South Bend left a sour taste in the entire program’s mouth. It was inevitable that whoever Clemson faced next was going to get it, and that was Pitt. Here are five things you missed.

Trevor Lawrence is now No. 3 all-time in passing in Clemson history

In what will be his final season at Clemson, Lawrence has emerged as a top-three passer all-time in Tigers history. He surpassed the legendary Charlie Whitehurst on Saturday afternoon with his brilliant day. The only guys with more career passing yards in Clemson history are Tajh Boyd and Deshaun Watson. Lawrence can surpass Watson and Boyd if Clemson wins it all.

E.J. Williams’ touchdown was the most significant on the afternoon

Clemson wide receiver E.J. Williams scored the first touchdown of the game in the Tigers’ blowout victory over Pitt. It may have been the most significant touchdown of the day. He was wearing a No. 39 jersey on military appreciation day to commemorate the life of his father, who passed away at the age of 39 back in 2010. What a special moment for Williams and his family.

Andrew Booth floated forever on this impressive interception

Clemson cornerback Andrew Booth took off from the ground on this impressive interception and did not come back to earth for a little while. When you watch this clip in slow motion, you are convinced Booth has gone into orbit and is now a satellite that will occasionally wave to us from outer space. On today’s episode of people who defy the laws of gravity, here you go.

Yes, Clemson came to play vs. Pitt in the first quarter

This was expected whenever Clemson took the field the next time after the heart-breaking loss to Notre Dame. Clemson was going to put it on its next opponent. What did come as a surprise was how many points Clemson scored in the opening frame. The Tigers put 31 points on the board in the first quarter to set a school record. There was no coming back for Pitt after that awful start.

Cornell Powell joined DeAndre Hopkins and Sammy Watkins in great company

It had happened five times before this, but still, wide receiver Cornell Powell joined elite company in terms of Clemson all-time receiving greatness. With Powell’s third straight 100-yard receiving game, he joins a class of Tigers greats that include DeAndre Hopkins and Sammy Watkins. Powell has a chance to become the next great Clemson wide receiver as soon as he turns pro.
