After a bad week on the ground, Georgia football bounced back pounding the rock in a big way.

Georgia football got back to being Georgia football again by running the dang ball again.

After going nowhere with the run vs. the Mississippi State Bulldogs last week, the Georgia Bulldogs ran all over the rival South Carolina Gamecocks in Columbia on Saturday night. Georgia blew out South Carolina at Williams-Brice to the tune of 45-16, as the Dawgs had 46 rushing attempts for 332 yards and four trips to pay dirt. The best part was it being a total team effort.

This was the game any Dawg would have ever hoped for

Leading the way for Georgia with the multi-faceted rushing attack was James Cook, who had 104 yards on six carries for two touchdowns. Zamir White nearly broke 100 himself on the night, as he had 13 carries for 84 yards and two rushing touchdowns. Kenny McIntosh had nine carries for 79 yards and Daijun Edwards had 14 carries for 77 yards to close this one out for the Dawgs.

While this was JT Daniels‘ second career start under center for Georgia, he was able to lean on the ground game in a way he could not vs. Mississippi State. Though he had a pair of touchdown passes on 16 attempts, Daniels only completed 10 balls and threw an interception. Still, Georgia rediscovered what makes this one of the very best teams in the country. They run the ball so well.

Georgia may improve to the No. 8 team in the country after seeing the team above them in the College Football Playoff rankings in the Northwestern Wildcats stumble to the Michigan State Spartans. Though the Dawgs have no chance of making the playoff, this is a team that will be in a New Year’s Six bowl game and very much a threat to contend for a national title next year.

This was a game where Dawg Nation can have next to nothing to complain about on Monday.
