Vanderbilt’s Sarah Fuller made history today as the first woman to play in a Power 5 college football game.
Less than one week after Sarah Fuller was helping lead Vanderbilt soccer to an SEC title, she made history as the first woman to play in a Power 5 college football game.
Fuller kicked off for Vanderbilt to start the second half vs. Missouri and history was made.
Credit Derek Mason for giving Fuller an opportunity to make history, but all the rest of the credit goes to Fuller for preparing for this opportunity and making the most of her moment.

I watched Sarah Fuller kick off with my two girls, and we all clapped and my eyes welled with tears. ... As a child, I sat on the couch with my dad so many years ago wishing I could play football, too. Seeing this moment with my own daughters, it defies words.

Fuller executed the kick perfectly where the coverage team was funneled to the right side of the field and left it unreturnable for Missouri. It worked exactly as they drew it up.
Fuller will now serve as an inspiration for countless young girls around the country who can see her as an example that with hard work and determination you can play college football too.
Now we wait to see if Vanderbilt gets in field goal range or scores a touchdown to give her an opportunity to be the first woman to score in a Power 5 game. And only the second woman since Katie Hnida to score in an NCAA Division I-A game.
