Is it safe to say Patrick Mahomes is the next G.O.A.T. already?

In case you didn’t know it, Patrick Mahomes is very good at football. In fact, he’s so good that other quarterbacks that are very talented look terrible in his image while donning the Kansas City Chiefs colors.

Sooner or later, Mahomes will be set to break near every passing record in the NFL. On Sunday against Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he added another to his list.

Mahomes finished the first half on Sunday’s game going 25-of-33 for 359 yards and two touchdowns. According to NFL Network’s Andrew Siciliano, that now is the most passing yards by a quarterback in a half since 1991.

Mahomes is on a new level

It might technically be a one-man show for Mahomes, but his first half stats were cushioned by two big plays to speedy receiver Tyreek Hill. Early on, Hill would win on a slug route over the likes of the Buccaneers defenders . He’d take that for a 75-yard touchdown, giving Kansas City a 10-0 lead.

One drive later, the two connected again for 44-yard score. So far, Hill also is on pace for a record as well, sitting with eight catches for 210 yards and two touchdowns. The record for all-time receiving yards in a game is 336 yards when Flip Anderson defeated that in 1989.

Mahomes has already hoisted the title of MVP in his first full season as the Chiefs quarterback. A year later, he became a Super Bowl champion. Looking back at his short, yet exponential career, it’s hard not to imagine him becoming the next great quarterback in the NFL, putting himself in place next to Tom Brady, Peyton Manning and Joe Montana.

Once again, this is Mahomes’ league now and teams are lucky to do anything about it.

Next. Tyreek Hill could be setting records soon. dark
