Bob Stoops is helping out Lincoln Riley and the Oklahoma football coaching staff this week.

Coming to the rescue for Lincoln Riley and the Oklahoma football program is Bob Stoops.

Because of the Oklahoma Sooners’ issues battling the coronavirus, legendary former OU head coach Stoops will re-join his predecessor Riley’s staff at least temporarily. These days, Stoops peddles tequila in the Sooner State and cheers for his son Drake Stoops as a redshirt sophomore on Riley’s program. This has to be cool for a father to be coaching his son at a place like Oklahoma.

Oklahoma is the favorite to win the Big 12 for the sixth year in a row

The Sooners have two more conference games the rest of the way: Home vs. the Baylor Bears on Saturday and at the West Virginia Mountaineers on Dec. 12. Should the Sooners win both of those games, they will get to 8-2 on the season and will face presumptively the Iowa State Cyclones in the Big 12 Championship game with a Cotton Bowl Classic on the line. Oklahoma wants revenge.

Though the College Football Playoff is not happening out of the Big 12 this season, winning the conference yet again is a streak the Sooners want to keep going. Keep in mind they lost to Iowa State in Ames earlier in the season. As for the Cyclones, it would be their first conference championship game appearance in school history, as Matt Campbell has done a marvelous job.

With Stoops helping Riley out, look for Oklahoma to get to 8-2 before the big date in Arlington.
