FLEX Option: David Montgomery $6,200

David Montgomery is a roller coaster most of us wouldn’t sign up for on a weekly basis, but the Chicago Bears showed what they plan to do with Mitch Trubusky under center. Head coach Matt Nagy and the rest of the Bears brass know if he’s trying to throw them to a win, it will end badly. So, they go with their talented but flawed running back David Montgomery.

This week, it paid major dividends for the few who are still playing Montgomery. Under the radar, Montgomery has been playing well as of late. He’s only bombed in one game in his last eight. Getting nine points from a running back isn’t great, but if that’s the floor for the FLEX option, then it’s not so bad.

Montgomery finally hit the peak he hit in Week 2 against the Giants. He started it early when he had a 57-yard rush on the second play for the Bears offense. That might have been it for him in other matchups, but against the Packers, he kept producing. He ended with 22 points, his best performance of the year.

The most exciting part of the performance was that he caught four balls for 40 yards and a touchdown. Trubisky is using him even when the team is down huge. Trubusky went to Montgomery and Allen Robinson. He went for the most talented players on his offense even when the Bears were down. It shows he will likely continue to be a big part of the offense moving forward.
