Nick Saban will be able to coach for Alabama football vs. LSU football on Saturday.

Saban has to be excited about his return to the Alabama football sidelines.

For the first time in his 47-year career as a football coach, Saban had to miss a game last week. This was because the head coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide tested positive for COVID-19 and had to self-quarantine, missing the Iron Bowl vs. the arch rival Auburn Tigers in the process. With him being medically cleared to travel on Friday, Saban will coach against his former team in LSU.

“I’ll be there,” said Saban. “I’m good. I think my time is up, so I’m ready to get back in the swing of things, even though I’ve been there for every possible thing, it’s just been a little bit different. But now I can get back in person and do all the things we need to do without an issue or problem.”

“The medical staff makes all those decisions based on the CDC timetables and all that. I’m cleared tomorrow to travel with the team. . .I had one of those IV deals Wednesday morning of last week, a week ago — the plasma treatment or whatever it’s called — and it really worked wonders.”

“I mean, I woke up the next day and I really only had slight symptoms of a head cold, maybe a little cough, so I felt like I had a cold but that’s about it. I didn’t feel bad, I didn’t have a fever. Whatever was in this plasma deal, it knocked it all out in one day. From Thursday on, I felt great and 100 percent. I would certainly recommend that treatment to anybody who can get it.”

Alabama will use LSU as a tune-up before the SEC Championship game

The Crimson Tide are the No. 1 team in the land entering Week 14 of the 2020 college football season. Alabama is 8-0 on the year and should be undefeated heading into the SEC Championship game in a few weeks. A win over a rebuilding LSU team would get the Crimson Tide to 9-0. Depending on if they get to play Arkansas in Week 15, Alabama could be 10-0 before Atlanta.

Waiting for them in Mercedes-Benz Stadium will be the Florida Gators. Assuming Florida wins its remaining regular-season games, the winner of this conference title bout will make the College Football Playoff. While Florida must beat Alabama in Atlanta, the Crimson Tide could still get in as a one-loss, non-champion if they are 9-0 or 10-0 heading into the conference championship.

Saban is ready to make his former team look terrible when Alabama heads into Death Valley.
