Ahead of the Chiefs vs. Broncos showdown on Sunday, Denver head coach Vic Fangio has paid Patrick Mahomes the ultimate compliment.

As things stand, two of the best quarterbacks in the NFL are no question Patrick Mahomes and Aaron Rodgers. Whenever the two have the pigskin in their hands, they’re able to make opposing defenses look silly by slinging the ball all over the field.

This is something Denver head coach Vic Fangio knows all too well. Fangio and the Broncos are getting ready to take on the Chiefs on Sunday, with the tall task of trying to slow down Mahomes on their plate. Leading up to that showdown, Fangio has paid Mahomes quite the compliment.

Broncos head coach Vic Fangio didn’t mince words when describing how great Patrick Mahomes is

It’s hard to argue with Fangio’s thinking here, as the two signal-callers have total rockets for an arm. That’s been showcased throughout the season. Rodgers is No. 1 in the league with his 33 touchdown passes. Mahomes isn’t too far behind with his 30 strikes, which has him in third.

Perhaps even more impressive, the two can calls themselves Super Bowl champs as well, with both the Packers and Chiefs looking like serious threats to win it all this winter too. To make things even better for Mahomes, Fangio even said the KC standout reminds him of John Elway.

Man, it’s one thing to be compared to Rodgers, but Elway too? If Fangio is playing mind games with Mahomes and trying to boost his confidence ahead of Sunday’s matchup, he’s done one heck of a job in that department.

With Mahomes being the reigning Super Bowl MVP and signing his 10-year, $500 million deal, he’s expected to be the face of the NFL for years to come. However, with Rodgers still playing at an elite level, we could see these two battling it out on the gridiron for a few more seasons.
