The Texas A&M Aggies look to keep their College Football Playoff hopes alive as they go on the road to take on the Auburn Tigers.

The Texas A&M Aggies head-to-head win over the Florida Gators is being valued right now in the College Football Playoff Rankings but as the season progresses and Florida gets closer to taking on the Alabama Crimson Tide in the SEC title game that value is slowly decreasing. If Florida and Alabama win out before meeting in the title game, and the Gators end up winning the game and the conference, the Aggies are going to need some help from other teams to get in the playoff. Whether it be a Notre Dame ACC title or Ohio State not playing enough games to compete for a Big Ten title, a lot will have to go into play for Texas A&M to sneak into the playoff.

But first things first, they have a tough road game against the Auburn Tigers who are fresh off an embarrassing loss in the Iron Bowl. The Tigers have three losses on the season, losing to Georgia, Alabama, and South Carolina. And as I’m sure you have already noticed yourself, one of those teams is not like the other. The Gamecocks have as many wins (two) as Alabama and Georgia have in combined losses.

The spread says this will be a close game but personally, I think the Aggies have the talent to take control in this game early and keep the Tigers out of the game for any potential upset. One of A&M’s biggest strengths is their rushing attack that averages over 185 yards a game and is taking on a Tigers’ defense that allows over 160 yards on the ground per game. Isaiah Spiller has rushed for nearly 800 yards and six touchdowns this season, and his back up Ainias Smith, who is primarily used in the passing game, is averaging 5.5 yards a carry while being the second leading receiver for the Aggies’ offense.

So can Auburn slow down this dynamic dup in the A&M backfield? Or will the Aggies running backs continue their strong year and keep their playoff hopes alive?

Prediction: Again, the spread and some experts believe this game will be close, and given Texas A&M’s past I would usually agree. But I think this season is this season where the Aggies finally make that jump, and as shown in their win over Florida, they are making that jump. The Aggies running back tandem have their typical days but it is their defense that takes control and gives A&M full control in this game. Auburn is desperate for a big win and could keep this close but I think the Aggies take care of business.

Score: Texas A&M 37, Auburn 24
